English (A2 and B)
There are two different English courses in the IB diploma programme; English A2 and English B.
English A2 is directed to the study and analysis of literature, and English B which is broader and more general in its syllabus. The choice of which exam to plan for should first of all be guided by how interested you are in reading and writing about literature and how competent you are in expressing yourself in an analytical and varied way.
The exam papers reflect the content of each course: the A2 exam contains literary papers and essays, whereas the English B exam is an advanced language test with some questions of interpretation and analysis, and essay writing on non-literary topics.
