Environment

Eskilstuna airport aims to be environmentally friendly.  The airport has permission to 27 400 movements per year and to extend the runway to 2200x45 meter. The airport is situated in a wooded area that also includes a small number of residential and vacation homes.
A "land-use master plan" has ensured that the village of Kjula, 3,5 km northwest of airfield cannot expand to the east, to protect the airport.

The excellent infrastructure permits easy access to transportation by road or rail. The Airportarea of Kjula offers easy and direct access to the E20 highway.
In terms of rail travel, the "Svealandsbanan" railway south of the airport could be provided with a new station/terminal both for passengers and cargo. An interesting solution would be to provide fuel to the airport by rail, which places less strain on the environment, instead of by road, are currently being investigated.

Our aim is to to expand Eskilstuna airport with the least possible negative impact on any part of the environment.
